Celebrating 50 Years of Dr. Who

aNewDomain.net – The year 2013 marks 50 years of Dr. Who, that incredible, indelible British BBC TV sci-fi series. The time-traveling doctor, despite decades of changing hairstyles and female companions, just seems to get better with age.

Check out this massive Dr. Who infographic, from CableTV.com. It contains the best timeline we’ve seen yet of Dr. Who actors, episodes, companions and other Who-ish triviata.

Did you know the first episode was delayed because of extended TV coverage of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy? Or that there are 11 Doctor Whos in all, including the one currently embodied by actor Matt Smith?

Some things never change. As Dr. Who, Smith still floats around in a blue police telephone box, called a TARTIS (Time and Relative Dimensions in Space). And the box is still bigger on the inside that on the outside — or it appears that way. Everything relative in the Dr. Who universe, where the laws of physics bend crazily.

Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the fiftieth anniversary in 2013. Stay tuned for its special holiday episode this December. Scroll below to see the trailer.
